On March 5, 2023, From Afghanistan to “Banistan”: The Rise and Fall of Afghan Art, will open to the public at the Martie McMane Gallery in the First Congregational Church of Boulder (UCC), 1128 Pine Street, Boulder, CO 80302. The exhibition will last until September 1, 2023.
Co-curated by Wahid Omar and Jennifer Heath, the exhibition includes brilliant images of Afghan life by award-winning photographer Gloriann Liu, and beautiful, regional paintings by Afghan artists forbidden to create art by the ruling Taliban and relegated to performing menial jobs to support their families.
